Another zero carbon caravan in 2018
I shall be promoting solutions to climate change by undertaking a zero carbon journey again in 2018, 25 years from the date I was hit by a truck travelling at 65mph while cycling home from work in 1993. 95% of people with my injuries would have died, but I was super fit as I used to commute 200 miles a week on a bike. I haven't yet decided whether I will cycle around Britain, or hitch a lift on a yacht across the North Sea (as I did when I cycled to the Copenhagen climate summit in 2009) and cycle to the climate summit in Poland

Urban Green Fair
I went to the Urban Green Fair in Brixton last Sunday - an excellent idea, bringing together lots of people from a variety of organisations - everyone from the London Wildlife Trust to the Camp for Climate Action. I met lots of people interested in organising a concert in London, and will be getting in touch with them shortly to arrange a meeting to start things off

Harlequin festival
I spent a few days last week at the Harlequin festival at Strumpshaw near Norwich. Found lots of people to help with the zero carbon concerts - performers, organisers, Kaplick's solar stage and several renewable energy experts. Will be getting in touch with all of them when I get back from Sunrise: Off-grid, which is happening at Fernhill Farm in Somerset over the rest of this week.
Harlequin is a very eco-friendly festival, with solar electricity providing the power, and a very well-managed waste recycling station provided by Bright Green. They have a Sustainable Futures field, where we had workshops on all manner of subjects, ranging from the use of clay as a medicine, herbalism, and the vital role of fungi in feeding the world to how to produce a pedal generator.
It wasn't just music either. I videoed an amazing fire dance with a flaming hoola hoop.
I went as one of a team with an information stall on Transition Norwich. We met quite a few people from Transition Towns from all over the country, and I am convinced that the Transition movement can play a vital role in the zero carbon world concert. We already have several Transition communities involved, from as far away as Australia, where Transition Melbourne are making their concert an end-of-year celebration, and I will have an article in the next issue of Transition USA newsletter, so hopefully we'll get lots of Americans as well.
